পূর্বশর্ত। যদি সৃজনশীল মন অথবা প্রখর স্মৃতিশক্তি পেতে চান,
নতুন কিছু শিখলে আপনার বুদ্ধি এবং স্মার্টনেস্ দুটোই
বাড়ে। আপনি যতো বেশি শিখবেন, জানবেন আপনার মস্তিষ্কের চর্চাও ততো বেশি হবে এবং এর কার্যক্ষমতাও

নিজের উপর আস্থা রাখুন, বিশ্বাস আনুন। একজন ব্যক্তিত্ববান মানুষই পারে অন্যের কৃতিত্বকে
স্বীকৃতি দিতে। আপনার শরীর থেকে যেন কোন দুর্গন্ধ না বের হয়, সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখুন। লাজুক
মানুষরা নতুন মানুষের সঙ্গে কথা বলা শুরু করতে খুব একটা স্বচ্ছন্দ বোধ করেন না।
ছোটদের স্নেহ দিন এবং বড়দের শ্রদ্ধা করুন। যে ব্যক্তি
নিজের চেয়ে ছোট পদের ব্যক্তিদের সাথে ভালো আচরণ করেন না, তিনি কখোনোই একজন ভালোমানুষ
হিসাবে গণ্য হতে পারেন না। খুব দামী পোশাক পরিধান করে সবসময় সেজেগুজে থাকলেই স্মার্টনেট
আসবে তা কিন্তু নয়। শরীরের পোশাক যেমনই হোক, সেটি যেন পরিষ্কার পরিচ্ছন্ন আর পরিপাটি
হয় সেদিকে লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে। আয়ত্ব করুন শৃজনশীলভাবে কথা বলার অভ্যাস। আপনি যদি সুন্দরভাবে
গুছিয়ে সাবলীলভাবে কথা বলতে পারেন তাহলে সকলে অবশ্যই আপনার কথার মূল্য দিতে বাধ্য থাকবেন।
আপনি অন্যের চোখ দিয়ে নিজের দিকে তাকান। তাইলেই বুঝা
যাবে, কেমন হলে ভালো হয়। টিএসসি'তে একটা শুদ্ধ উচ্চারনের কোর্স করে নিতে পারেন। ৬০০-৭০০
টাকার কোর্স টা সত্যিই কাজের। শয়তান না হলে লিডার হওয়া যায় না।সব জায়গায় লিডার হওয়ার
দরকার নাই। নিজের গোপন বিষয় কখন কার সাথে শেয়ার করবেন- ঠাণ্ডা মাথায় ভেবে নিজেই
সিদ্ধান্ত নিন। সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার আগে পরে কী হতে পারে, তা নিয়ে একটু মাথা খাটালে
ভালো হয়। দলাদলি থাকবেই। আপনি কৌশলে দলবাজি থেকে দূরে থাকুন। আব্রাহাম লিংকন এর মতে
“পরাজয় মানে সমাপ্তি নয়,যাত্রা একটু দীর্ঘ হয় মাত্র”। বিজয়ীরা সবসময় যেকোনো সমস্যা
মোকাবেলা করতে প্রস্তুত।
একজন লোক মেলায় লাল-নিল-সবুজ ইত্যাদি অনেক রঙয়ের
বেলুন বিক্রি করে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করতো। কখনো কখনো তার বিক্রি কমে গেলে সে হিলিয়াম
গ্যাসে ভর্তি একটি বেলুন আকাসে উড়িয়ে দিত। বেলুনটিকে আকাশে উড়তে দেখে উৎসাহী বাচ্চারা
বেলুনগুলোর কাছে ভিড় করে তার বিক্রি বাড়িয়ে দিত। সারাদিন এই পদ্ধতিতে বেলুন বিক্রি
করত। একদিন পিছন থেকে জামায় টান পরাতে বেলুনয়ালা মুখ ফিরিয়ে দেখল একটা বাচ্চা ছেলে।
বাচ্চা ছেলেটি বলল “কালো রঙয়ের বেলুন কি আকাশে ঊরে?” বালকটির অত্যাধিক আগ্রহ লক্ষ্য
করে লোকটি তাকে আশ্বস্ত করে বলল, “বেলুন রঙয়ের জন্য আকাশে ঊরে না, বেলুনের ভিতরের
গ্যাস বেলুনকে আকাশে উড়ায়”।
আমাদের জীবনেও একথা সত্য। আমাদের ভিতরে কি আছে সেইটাই
প্রধান। আমাদের ভিতরের যে জিনিসটি আমাদের উপরে উঠতে সাহায্য করবে তা হল আমাদের মানসিকতা।
আমরা যদি মানসিকতা ঠিক করে একটা সিন্ধান্তে উপনীত হই যে আমি ইহা পারবোই। তাহলে আপনি
দেখবেন যে আপনি সেই কাজে সফল।
ব্যাক্তিত্ব হচ্ছে অভিজ্ঞতার ঝুলি, আর এই ঝুলিতে রয়েছে
– আমরা প্রতিনিয়ত যা বলি, যা করি, যা অনুভব করি, যা ভাবি, যা আশা করি, যা বিশ্বাস করি;
সাথে রয়েছে চলার পথে আমরা কোন পরিস্থিতিতে কি প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখাই সে সবকিছু। সোনা গলিয়ে
অলংকার হয়। ধাতু পিটিয়ে পাত্র তৈরী হয়। পাথর কেটে মূতি গড়া হয়। তাই জীবনে যত কষ্ট পাবেন,
ততই খাটিঁ ও দামী হবেন। মনোবিজ্ঞানীরা বলেন, ব্যক্তিত্ব তার স্বকীয় বংশগতি ও পরিবেশের
যৌথ ফলাফল।

অনুভূতি। কারও কারও মনে হতে পারে এটি বিজ্ঞান কল্পকাহিনি। কিন্তু গবেষকদের দাবি, বাস্তবে
একদিন এমনটিই দেখা যাবে, বাণিজ্যিকভাবে তৈরি হবে কৃত্রিম রক্ত।
মানুষের কৃত্রিম অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গ তৈরিতে আধুনিক গবেষণায়
অনেক সাফল্য এসেছে। একই সঙ্গে ত্রিমাত্রিক (থ্রিডি) প্রিন্টারের সাহায্যে বিভিন্ন জিনিসের
প্রতিরূপ উৎপাদন প্রযুক্তিরও অভাবনীয় বিকাশ ঘটেছে।
বিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন, এই দুইয়ে মিলে ভবিষ্যতে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে
মানুষের রক্ত ও হাড় উৎপাদন সম্ভব হবে—এমন ভাবনা অবান্তর বলে উড়িয়ে দেওয়ার সুযোগ কমে
এসেছে। তবে বিপুল পরিমাণে কৃত্রিম রক্ত ও হাড় মানবদেহে প্রতিস্থাপনের পরীক্ষা চালানোর
বিষয়টিকেই এগুলো উৎপাদনের পথে সবচেয়ে বড় বাধা হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয়। স্টেম সেল থেকে
তৈরি কৃত্রিম রক্ত ও অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গ মানুষের শরীরে সফলভাবে প্রতিস্থাপন করা সম্ভব হলেই
এসবের বাণিজ্যিক উৎপাদনে যাওয়া যাবে।
যুক্তরাজ্যের একদল গবেষক সেই সম্ভাবনা জোরালো বলেই
মনে করছেন। দেশটির ওয়েলকাম ট্রাস্টের অর্থায়নে একটি প্রকল্পের আওতায় মানবদেহে কৃত্রিম
রক্ত প্রতিস্থাপনের কাজ শুরু করেছেন গবেষক মার্ক টার্নার।
টার্নারের নেতৃত্বে একদল গবেষক ইতিমধ্যে তৈরি করেছেন
মানবদেহে স্থানান্তরের উপযোগী লোহিত রক্তকণিকা। স্টেম সেল থেকে লোহিত রক্ত কণিকা তৈরিতে
টার্নার একটি বিশেষ পদ্ধতি অবলম্বন করেছেন। এতে প্রথমে মানুষের শরীরের কোষ থেকে স্টেম
সেল তৈরি করা হয়। মানবদেহের অনুরূপ জৈবরাসায়নিক বৈশিষ্ট্যের ওই স্টেম সেল থেকে লোহিত
রক্তকণিকা তৈরি করা হয়। টার্নার বলেন, মানবদেহের উপযোগী রক্ত তৈরির পরীক্ষা আগেও অনেক
হয়েছে। তবে তাঁরা প্রথমবারের মতো মানুষের শরীরের জন্য নিরাপদ রক্ত তৈরি করতে সমর্থ
হয়েছেন। এটি প্রয়োজনে মানুষের শরীর থেকে অপসারণ করা যাবে।
টার্নার ও তাঁর সহযোগীরা ২০১৬ অথবা ২০১৭ সালের শুরুতেই
গবেষণাটি সম্পন্ন করার পরিকল্পনা করছেন। এই পরীক্ষায় তিনজন থ্যালাসেমিয়া রোগীর শরীরে
কৃত্রিম রক্ত প্রতিস্থাপন করা হবে। পরে তাঁদের শরীরের প্রতিক্রিয়া পর্যবেক্ষণ করা হবে।
থ্যালাসেমিয়ায় আক্রান্ত রোগীদের শরীরে কিছুদিন পরপরই রক্ত পরিবর্তন করতে হয়।

ডিম্বাণু ও শুক্রাণুর মধ্যে প্রথম সংযোগের ঘটনাটি
ডিম্বকোষের উপরিতলে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রোটিন অণুর মাধ্যমে নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়। অণুটি ডিম্বকোষকে

গর্ভধারণের মুহূর্তে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। অপ্রত্যাশিত বন্ধ্যাত্বের চিকিৎসায়

নাম তার জুনো
প্রোটিনটির নাম রাখা হয়েছে জুনো। আর শুক্রাণুতে এটির
অনুরূপ আরেকটি প্রোটিনের নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে ইজুমো। গর্ভধারণের পরপরই ডিম্বাণুতে জুনো
প্রোটিনের পরিমাণ দ্রুত হ্রাস পেতে থাকে। এ-সংক্রান্ত একটি গবেষণা প্রতিবেদন নেচার
সাময়িকীতে প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।
নতুন জন্মনিরোধক
এই প্রোটিন আবিষ্কারের ফলে ডিম্বাণু বা শুক্রাণুর
উৎপাদন অব্যাহত রেখেই কার্যকর নতুন ধরনের জন্মনিরোধক তৈরির সম্ভাবনার পথও সুগম হয়েছে।
১ গর্ভধারণের প্রথম পর্যায়
ইজুমো-ওয়ান নামের একটি প্রোটিন শুক্রাণুর আবরণে থাকে।
এটি জুনো নামের অনুরূপ বৈশিষ্ট্যের একটি প্রোটিন চিহ্নিত করে সেটির সঙ্গে ডিম্বাণুর
উপরিতলে যুক্ত হয়। তখন শুক্রাণুটি ডিম্বাণুর ভেতরে প্রবেশ করে এবং দুই সেট ক্রোমোজোম

২ নিষিক্ত ডিম্বাণুর সুরক্ষা
গর্ভনিষেক প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হওয়ার কয়েক মিনিটের মধ্যে
ডিম্বাণুর উপরিতলে অবশিষ্ট জুনো প্রোটিন বুদ্বুদের মতো বেরিয়ে আসে এবং কোষের বাইরের
গুটিকায় রূপ নেয়। এতে অন্য শুক্রাণুগুলো ডিম্বাণুতে প্রবেশে বাধা পায় এবং গর্ভধারণ

With Windows 8, Microsoft
wants one operating system that works well both on both desktop PCs and
tablets. Google, meanwhile, has chosen Android as its tablet and smartphone
interface while developing Chrome OS for laptops. So what happens when you put
Android on a laptop with a touchscreen, like with the Lenovo Ideapad A10?
Not Quite Android
Many smartphone makers
choose to put custom UI skins on Android. Usually, I’m not a fan of that. But
on laptops, it’s a necessity. Android isn’t made for laptops, so to make it
usable with this form factor, things need to change. Which is why Lenovo has
introduced things like a custom dock which mimics the Windows Launch Superbar.
Android also needs a
keyboard which steps away from the traditional Windows and Linux keyboards,
with special buttons for common Android features like apps drawer,
multi-tasking, etc.

But the downside of all
this is that these are, in the end, cosmetic changes—the limit of what a
company can do without moving beyond the core challenges Android faces as a
laptop OS.
Apps, Apps, Apps
The big problem for
Android is that its apps are not made for use in a laptop or desktop setting,
they are made with the intent of being touched. While some of them translate
decently to a keyboard+mouse interface, they still don’t match up to what you
would get on Windows. And this is especially found wanting in the quality of
the programs.
No office suite, for
example, matches up to what you get in Microsoft Office on Windows or Mac.
Kingsoft Office and others are decent, but the mobile versions are not as robust
as desktop alternatives. Try working with tables in the word processor or try a
spreadsheet file with macros and the limitations of mobile office suites come
to the fore.
Then there’s the complete
lack of support for professional applications. Adobe Photoshop Touch or any
other image-editing app on Android doesn’t hold a candle to their desktop
counterparts.
But perhaps the most
damaging thing for Android is that its mobile browsers aren’t as good as Chrome
or Firefox on desktop. By default, these mobile browsers are set to load pages
in mobile mode. With a few small hacks, you can set it so that the browser
always fetches the desktop version of any website, but what makes Chrome and
Firefox so great on desktop are the many extensions and plug-ins that make them
a flawless interface to the internet. Without those, we might as well be using
Internet Explorer, and that’s the same kind of limitation you feel when you use
Chrome Mobile or Firefox Mobile on Android.
Bad Multi-tasking, Great
Multimedia
The other thing that irks
the Android laptop user is the lack of true multi-tasking. While floating
windows have bridged the gap to an extent when compared to what you’d get on
Windows or Linux, it’sstill not as good as the desktop operating systems.
Where Android does score
is in its vast Play Store and all the goodies that brings. You have access to
the full Google Play Music library of music, the Play Movies library of films
and TV shows, and the Play Books library of novels and magazines. As a
multimedia device, Android outshines Windows quite easily.
There’s also the added
benefit of the Play Store and its collection of great casual games.
What Android Needs To Be A
Laptop OS
So the question is, what
would Android need to do to make it a great laptop operating system? The
biggest thing missing, in my opinion, is bringing great desktop apps to this OS
through the same Play Store. Just like you install Chrome for smartphones,
there should be an option to install Chrome Desktop for the same touchscreen
devices—this app, however, would need to be made for keyboard usage.
Apart from the apps front,
a focus on true multi-tasking would be great, but that seems more unlikely.
Instead, hardware manufacturers giving more RAM in Android laptops makes more
sense, as features like floating windows take the brunt of turning Android into
a desktop interface.
Finally, much like there
are homescreen replacements for smartphones, it would be great if there were
third-party apps or downloadable elements that customised your Android to be
used for laptops rather than tablets—i.e. turn the focus from touch-based input
to keyboard+mouse input.
As things stand today,
however, Android is a long way away from incorporating these features. As such,
it’s not yet ready to be a laptop operating system, so your choices are still
limited to Windows, Linux, Mac and Google’s other operating system, Chrome OS.

An Israeli startup has
developed a new smartphone battery that can recharge in just under 30 seconds.
The advance could change
the way we interact with portable electronics, and perhaps even help realise
the dream of a fast-charging electric car.
The battery by StoreDot
claims to bring charge times down to the order of a few seconds.
The company produces
so-called nanodots, chemically synthesised bio-organic peptide molecules that,
thanks to their small size, improve electrode capacitance and electrolyte
performance.
The result is batteries
that can be fully charged in seconds rather than hours.
"In essence, we have
developed a new generation of electrodes with new materials - we call it MFE -
Multi Function Electrode," StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf told 'Gizmag'.
"On one side it acts
like a supercapacitor (with very fast charging), and on the other is like a
lithium electrode (with slow discharge). The electrolyte is modified with our
nanodots in order to make the multifunction electrode more effective,"
Myersdorf said.
The company said that
unlike other nanodot and quantum-dot technologies that are heavy metal based,
making them toxic, its nanodots are made from a vast range of bio-organic raw
materials that are environmentally-friendly.
These materials are also
naturally abundant, and the nanodots employ a basic biological mechanism of
self-assembly, making them cheap to manufacture.
Myersdorf said the
technology could also be adapted to electric cars, by modifying the electrode
so it could sustain higher currents and configuring a large number of cells in
parallel.

আজ থেকে বন্ধ হচ্ছে মাইক্রোসফটের অপারেটিং সিস্টেম
উইন্ডোজ এক্সপির হালনাগাদ সেবা। এক যুগেরও বেশি সময় ধরে জনপ্রিয়তার শীর্ষে থাকা উইন্ডোজ
এক্সপি অপারেটিং সিস্টেমের আর কোনো হালনাগাদ দেবে না মাইক্রোসফট। আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে উইন্ডোজের
নতুন সংস্করণ ব্যবহারেরও পরামর্শ দিয়ে আসছিল বিশ্বখ্যাত এ সফটওয়্যার প্রতিষ্ঠান। মূলত
নিরাপত্তার বিষয়টি মাথায় রেখে এবং সাইবার হামলাকারীদের হাত থেকে রক্ষা পেতে এক্সপি
হালনাগাদ করে নেওয়ার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়েছিল। কারণ, এক্সপির হালনাগাদ বন্ধ হলে অ্যান্টিম্যালওয়্যার
সিস্টেমের সুবিধাগুলোও আর থাকবে না।
অনেক দিন ধরেই উইন্ডোজ এক্সপি থেকে পরবর্তী কোনো সংস্করণের
অপারেটিং সিস্টেম হালনাগাদ করে নেওয়ার কথা পরামর্শ দিয়ে আসছে মাইক্রোসফট। আজ থেকে উইন্ডোজ
এক্সপির নিরাপত্তার জন্য মাইক্রোসফট নিরাপত্তাবিষয়ক সফটওয়্যারের কোনো সংস্করণ আর পাওয়া
যাবে না।
প্রযুক্তি নিরাপত্তা বিশেষজ্ঞদের মতে, যেহেতু নিরাপত্তার
বেশ কিছু দিক উন্মুক্ত হয়ে যাবে এবং মাইক্রোসফটও কোনো হালনাগাদ দেবে না, তাই এক্সপি
থেকে উইন্ডোজের নতুন সংস্করণে হালনাগাদ করে ফেললে নিরাপদ থাকা যাবে। এ ছাড়া উইন্ডোজের
নতুন সংস্করণগুলোতে আরও উন্নত সুবিধা, নিরাপত্তাব্যবস্থা ইত্যাদি বেশ সক্রিয় বলেও ব্যবহারকারীরা
নিরাপদেই থাকবেন। যাঁরা এক্সপি থেকে নতুন সংস্করণে হালনাগাদ করতে চান, তাঁরা মাইক্রোসফটের

ধরুন ঘরের মাঝখানে কোনোরকম তারের সংযোগ ছাড়াই জ্বলছে
একটি বৈদ্যুতিক বাতি। মনে হতে পারে বৈজ্ঞানিক কল্পকাহিনির বিষয়! আসলে তা নয়। ওয়াই-ফাইয়ের
মতো তারবিহীন এক বিদ্যুত্ স্থানান্তরের প্রযুক্তিতে এই বাতিটি জ্বলছে।

প্রতিষ্ঠানটির প্রধান প্রযুক্তি কর্মকর্তা কেটি হল
সম্প্রতি জানিয়েছেন, ভবিষ্যতে হালের ওয়াই-ফাই প্রযুক্তির মতোই ঘর-বাড়িতে তারবিহীন প্রযুক্তির
বিদ্যুত্ ব্যবস্থার প্রচলন শুরু হবে। এ ছাড়াও এই প্রযুক্তি নতুন ও উদ্ভাবনী চিকিত্সা
যন্ত্রপাতি তৈরিতেও কাজে লাগানো সম্ভব। বার্তা সংস্থা সিএনএন সম্প্রতি ওয়াইট্রিসিটি
নিয়ে এক প্রতিবেদন প্রকাশ করেছে।
কেটি হল জানিয়েছেন, ওয়াইট্রিসিটি মূলত ওয়্যারলেস
‘রেজোনেন্স’ বা তারবিহীন অনুনাদ প্রযুক্তি নিয়ে কাজ করছে। এই প্রযুক্তিতে বাতাসে বিদ্যুত্
ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার পরিবর্তে বিশেষ চৌম্বক ক্ষেত্র তৈরি করে।
কেটি হল জানিয়েছেন, ওয়াইট্রিসিটি মূলত একটি ‘সোর্স
রেজোনেটর’ বা বৈদ্যুতিক কয়েল তৈরি করে। এর সঙ্গে পাওয়ার যুক্ত করলে তা চৌম্বক ক্ষেত্র
তৈরি করে। এর কাছাকাছি যদি আরেকটি কয়েল আনা যায় তখন এটি থেকে বৈদ্যুতিক চার্জ উত্পন্ন
হয়।
কেটি হল দাবি করেন, তারবিহীন বিদ্যুত্ স্থানান্তরের
এই পদ্ধতিটি নিরাপদ। ওয়াই-ফাই রাউটার যেভাবে কাজ করে এ পদ্ধতিটিও সেই একইরকম।
কেটি হল আশা করছেন, ভবিষ্যতে তারবিহীন বিদ্যুত্ স্থানান্তর
তারবিহীন ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের মতোই সহজ হবে। সব কিছু যদি ওয়াইট্রিসিটির পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী
ঘটে, তবে মোবাইল ফোন পকেটে রেখেই তা চার্জ দেওয়া সম্ভব হবে, ল্যাপটপের জন্য আলাদা চার্জার
লাগবে না, টেলিভিশনে কোনো তার যুক্ত করতে হবে না।

মোবাইল ফোন হবে আরও পাতলা, ইন্টারনেট চলবে এখনকার
চেয়েও শতগুণ দ্রুতগতিতে আর এসবই সম্ভব হবে মোবাইল ফোনে ব্যবহূত একটিমাত্র উপাদানের
কারণে। সম্প্রতি স্যামসাংয়ের গবেষকেরা এই ‘আশ্চর্য উপাদান’ আবিষ্কারের দাবি করেছেন।
এ আশ্চর্য উপাদানটি তাঁরা পেয়েছেন গ্রাফিন থেকে। ওয়াল স্ট্রিট জার্নালের এক খবরে এ
তথ্য জানানো হয়েছে।
স্যামসাংয়ের গবেষকেরা দাবি করেছেন, তাঁরা এমন একটি
প্রক্রিয়া আবিষ্কার করেছেন যাতে গ্রাফিন ব্যবহার করে ভবিষ্যতে তাঁদের তৈরি স্মার্টফোন
আরও পাতলা ও টেকসই করা সম্ভব হবে। তাঁদের দাবি, তাঁদের উদ্ভাবিত প্রক্রিয়ায় একটি গ্রাফিন
ক্রিস্টাল বিস্তৃত অঞ্চল পর্যন্ত এর বৈদ্যুতিক ও যান্ত্রিক শক্তি ধরে রাখতে পারে।
গ্রাফিনকে বিস্ময়কর উপাদান বলা হয়। যুক্তরাজ্যের গবেষকেদের
তৈরি গ্রাফিন এমন একটি পদার্থ যা স্টিলের চেয়েও শক্তিশালী অথচ বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে পাতলা
উপাদান। বিদ্যুত্ পরিবাহী হিসেবেও গ্রাফিন
চমত্কার।
গবেষকেরা বলেন, গ্রাফিন আসলে বহুরূপী মৌল কার্বনের
একটি ভিন্ন অবস্থামাত্র। এটি অদূর ভবিষ্যতে বিশ্বকে আমূল বদলে দিতে যাচ্ছে বলেই মনে
করছেন গবেষকেরা। ২০০৪ সালে আবিষ্কৃত গ্রাফিন বর্তমান বিশ্বে বৈদ্যুতিক যন্ত্রপাতি,
সংবেদনশীল যন্ত্রাংশ, সৌরবিদ্যুত্ কোষ, ইন্টারনেটের গতি বৃদ্ধির প্রযুক্তি, চিকিত্সা
প্রযুক্তিসহ কয়েকটি নির্দিষ্ট ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহূত হচ্ছে। এর নমনীয়তা এবং শক্তিশালী উপাদান
হিসেবে বিভিন্ন ইলেকট্রনিকস থেকে শুরু করে চিকিত্সার যন্ত্রপাতিতেও এটি বৈপ্লবিক পরিবর্তন
আনতে পারে। তবে দুষ্প্রাপ্যতা এবং জটিল ও ব্যয়বহুল উত্পাদন পদ্ধতির কারণে গ্রাফিনের
ব্যবহার সীমিত রয়েছে।
তবে ভবিষ্যতে তাঁদের তৈরি এই উপাদানটি কীভাবে পরিধেয়
প্রযুক্তিপণ্য, স্মার্টফোনে কাজে লাগানো হবে সে বিষয়ে কিছু জানায়নি দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার
প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। তবে নতুন উপাদান সম্পর্কে জানিয়েছে, পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের নমনীয় ডিসপ্লে
কিংবা পরিধেয় প্রযুক্তিপণ্যের জন্য এটা আদর্শ উপাদান।’

প্রখর রোদে অতিষ্ঠ জনজীবন। রোদের তাপে পুড়ে যায় ত্বক।
বাইরে বেরোলেই যেন ঘেমে নেয়ে একাকার। এমন বিরূপ পরিবেশে ত্বক ও চুলের চাই বিশেষ যত্ন।
জেনে নিন তাঁর কিছু পরামর্শ—
বাইরে বেরোলে ছাতা ব্যবহার করুন। ব্যবহার করতে পারেন
সানস্ক্রিন ক্রিমও। এমন সানস্ক্রিন ক্রিম ব্যবহার করুন, যার এসপিএফ ৩০-এর বেশি।
এ সময় ঘাম হয় খুব বেশি, তাই ত্বক রাখতে হবে পরিষ্কার।
তবে সাবান বা ফেসওয়াশ দিনে একবারের বেশি ব্যবহার
না করাই ভালো।
এই সময়ে চুল ও ত্বকের যত্ন প্রসঙ্গে আরও কথা বলেছেন
হারমনি স্পার আয়ুর্বেদ রূপবিশেষজ্ঞ রাহিমা সুলতানা। তাঁর পরামর্শ হলো—
এ সময় শরীর থেকে প্রচুর পানি বের হয়ে যায়। তাই পর্যাপ্ত
পানি পান করুন।
তরমুজ, বাঙ্গি, বেলসহ অন্যান্য ফল খেতে হবে।
এসব ফলের রসও চুল ও ত্বকের জন্য উপকারী। তাজা ফলমূল
কিনে এনে বাড়িতেই সেগুলোর রস তৈরি করে নেওয়া ভালো।
প্রতিদিন চুল ধুতে পারেন, তবে শ্যাম্পু ও কন্ডিশনার
এক দিন পর পর লাগানো উচিত।
মাসে অবশ্যই অন্তত দুইবার চুলে তেল লাগিয়ে রাখতে
হবে। এটি চুলের ডিপ কন্ডিশনিংয়ের কাজ করবে।
চুলে তেল লাগানোর আগে তেলের সঙ্গে একটু লেবুর রস
মিশিয়ে নিলে চুল খুশকিমুক্ত থাকবে।
রাহিমা সুলতানা জানিয়েছেন ত্বক ও চুলের যত্নে কিছু
প্যাক তৈরির পদ্ধতি।
চুলের জন্য
পাকা কলা, আমলকীর রস, মধু এবং মেথি গুঁড়া একসঙ্গে
মিশিয়ে প্যাক তৈরি করতে পারেন। এটি একই সঙ্গে চুল নরম করবে এবং রোদে পুড়ে লালচে হয়ে
যাওয়া থেকে বাঁচাবে।
এই গরমে ঘৃতকুমারী (অ্যালোভেরা) মাথা ঠান্ডা রাখতে
সাহায্য করবে। আর এর পাশাপাশি এটি চুল পড়াও কমাবে। চুলে প্রথমে তেল লাগিয়ে নিন। তারপর
এর রস লাগিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ অপেক্ষা করে চুল পরিষ্কার করে ফেলুন।
ঘৃতকুমারীর রস, মেথি গুঁড়া ও ত্রিফলা (আমলকী, হরীতকী
ও বহেরা) একসঙ্গে মিশিয়েও প্যাক তৈরি করতে পারেন।
তেলের সঙ্গে আমলকীর রস মিশিয়েও চুলে লাগাতে পারেন।
এটিও চুলের জন্য বেশ উপকারী। আমলকীর রস ও নারকেল তেল একসঙ্গে জ্বাল দিয়ে সারা রাত লাগিয়ে
রাখুন। পরদিন সকালে ধুয়ে ফেলুন। এটি চুল পড়া কমাতে সাহায্য করবে।
ত্বকের যত্নে রাহিমা সুলতানা আরও কিছু প্যাক তৈরির
পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন—
ত্বকের জন্য
তরমুজ, লাল আতা, দুধ ও মধু একসঙ্গে মিশিয়ে প্যাক
তৈরি করে ত্বকে লাগাতে পারেন।
বাঙ্গি, দুধ, মধু ও লাল আতার সঙ্গে টকদই মিশিয়েও
প্যাক তৈরি করতে পারেন।
সব ধরনের ত্বকের জন্য
প্যাক তৈরি করার জন্য হাতের কাছে তেমন কিছু না পেলেও
শুধু তরমুজের রস তুলার সাহায্যে ত্বকে লাগাতে পারেন। এতে আপনার ত্বক ঠান্ডা থাকবে ও
তা উজ্জ্বল দেখাবে। আর রোদে পোড়া ভাবও কমে আসবে।

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard everything there
is to about the Moto G. After Motorola’s highly popular Defy, and the RAZR, the
company just dropped off the radar once the Google acquisition took
effect. The Moto X was the first fruit
of that union and today, we have the Moto G – a phone designed especially for
emerging markets. This budget ‘Droid promises high-end specifications like most
Chinese offerings in this price range, but with superior build and support that
only seasoned OEMs are capable of delivering.
Design and Build
The Moto G isn’t a very striking phone. In
fact, one could easily mistake it for a Micromax or XOLO when viewed upfront.
However, it’s completely different feeling when you hold it. The Moto G sits
snugly in your hand and the curved back makes for a very reassuring fit. At 4.5
inches, the phone is very manageable and comfortable in the pocket as well.
The rubberised back is interchangeable and you
can even opt for a flip cover. The ‘Droid is a bit fat and slightly heavy but
it’s nowhere near uncomfortable. We do feel there’s a lot of wasted space at
the bottom though, since there aren’t any capacitive buttons.
The ports and buttons take their usual spot
around the device. The buttons have good tactile feedback and are ergonomically
placed. The back cover is removable, which lets you access the two SIM card
slots. There is no expandable memory and the 2070mAh battery is non-removable.
The Moto G comes bundled with a charger and a
headset. Oddly, the charger is not modular so you’ll have to buy a separate
microUSB cable for transferring data. It’s a task to get the headset to stay in
your ear and the audio quality is quite poor. Then again, this is a budget
phone so we weren’t expecting much.
Features
The 4.5 IPS HD display is just what the doctor
ordered. Colours are vivid and punchy and text is sharp thanks to the 326ppi
density. There’s also Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection. The Moto
G has very good sensitivity and Android runs very smoothly on the phone. It’s
mostly stock 4.3 Jelly Bean with a planned 4.4 KitKat update on the way.
Powering the Moto G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
SoC. This quad-core CPU runs at 1.2GHz and there’s 1GB of RAM accompanying it.
The RAM might seem a bit less nowadays but since there’s no skin, there’s
nothing to slow it down. Apps open and close swiftly and even switching between
them is quite seamless. The phone also fares well in the benchmarks.
Motorola has added a couple of their own apps
and tweaks to enhance the user experience. ‘Assist’ lets you automate your
ringing profile based on a predefined activity. For instance, you can set the
phone to stop all notifications when you sleep and automatically turn them on
when you wake up. The gallery app has also been tweaked a bit. The usual suite
of Google apps is also bundled into the package.
Media
For media playback, we have the stock audio and
video player. Instead, Motorola has added a ‘Audio Effects’ option in the
settings menu which affects the earphones and the speaker as well. You have
separate settings for the earphones and speaker, which is a thoughtful
addition.
Since the Moto G doesn’t have a microSD card
slot, you’re stuck with the 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage. The phone does
support 1080p video playback however, even though it doesn’t record in it.
There’s also FM radio on board.
We found the audio quality to be quite
excellent when paired with good IEMs. The loud speaker doesn’t have the best
quality but suffices for alerts.
Connectivity
The Moto G supports 3G as well as quad-band 2G.
In addition, you also get Wi-Fi ‘n’, Bluetooth v4.0, USB host and GLONASS. We
didn’t have any issue with the signal quality but the earpiece sounds a bit
muddy and isn’t very clear. It never really caused an issue while on a call but
the clarity could have been better.
Camera
The phone features a rear-facing 5MP camera and
1.3MP front-facing shooter. The primary shooter might see a bit low on
resolution but the sensor is actually pretty good so pictures do turn out quite
OK. In good lighting condition, you can get some pretty good macros too.
The UI is slightly re-designed and you have a
pop-out carousel with all the options on it. Strangely, you don’t have the
options for scene modes or the ability to change the resolution. The basics are
all there though and the rest can be added in post.
Battery Life
The 2070mAh battery easily sailed through our
8-hour loop test with 25 percent to spare. During real world usage, we easily
managed to get more than a day’s worth of usage.
Verdict and Price in India
The Moto G retails at Rs 12,499 for the 8GB and
Rs 13,999 for the 16GB. This makes it the best, value-for-money offering under
Rs 15,000 and quite possibly under Rs 20,000 as well. Sure, there are better
spec’d handsets at this price but if given a choice, would you really pick an
untested local brand over a seasoned OEM? Impressive specifications are no good
if you don’t have regular software and firmware updates to add new features and
iron out bugs.
The Moto G does many things right but it’s not
without its shortcomings. Expandable memory and 1GB of RAM are possibly the
only major drawbacks of this phone. When it comes to premium budget
smartphones, the Moto G joins the ranks of the Lava Iris Pro 30 and Nokia Lumia
720. We highly recommend the Moto G to anyone looking for a very good
smartphone under Rs 15,000.

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying the fact
that the Galaxy Grand Duos was a huge success for Samsung and is one of the
phones that cemented the company’s place as the top player in the Indian
market. The Grand 2 launched at a time when the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment
wasn’t a terribly exciting place and offered features such as dual-band WI-Fi,
GLONASS, Full HD video recording and a large display, which no one else did.
The display panel was the Achilles heel of the Grand Duos, which created two
factions of users – some who despised it and others who saw past this little
flaw. Honestly, we didn’t think it was that terrible like most made it out to
be but then that’s just us.
Exactly a year later, we have a follow up
called the Galaxy Grand 2. The successor comes with the mandatory cosmetic
facelift and few tweaks under the hood to keep all the right boxes ticked.
Trouble is though, this segment isn’t what it was a year back. It’s extremely
cut-throat and features like Full HD displays and 13MP cameras can be easily
found. So, with a higher launch price than the Grand Duos and a few changes
under the hood, does the Grand 2 have a place in this segment? Can it recreate
the magic of its predecessor when you have tough competition from Lenovo,
Nokia, Sony and Gionee?
Design and Build
If the Grand Duos looked a lot like the Galaxy
S3, the Grand 2 (SM-G7102) is modelled around the Galaxy S4 and the Mega. It
still weighs the same at 163g but is a tiny bit slimmer at 8.9mm. The phone is
made predominantly of plastic and Samsung has shaved down the bezel quite a bit
so the larger 5.2-inch display fits in a slightly smaller chassis.
The build quality is very good and the phone
feels sturdy without any creaking plastic bits. The bezel also has a
mosaic-like pattern on it, which is visible when light catches it. The back
cover is treated with the same faux-leather texture and faux-stitching like the
Note 3. The buttons and the edges have a heavy chrome trim, which is prone to
scratches and wearing off easily.
The back cover snaps off easily, revealing the
two SIM slots and a microSD card slot. We even have a chunkier 2600mAh battery
which should give us better backup time. The rear speaker is decently loud for
incoming calls but is quite muted when it comes to alert tones. Even after
maxing out the notification volume, the most alert tones weren’t as loud as
you’d expect them to be. Another issue is the lack of a notification light.
This is a real problem since if you don’t hear you phone, there’s no way of knowing
if you have a pending alert.
The ambient light sensor also seems to have
just two settings – dim and bright. It doesn’t change as quickly as well so at
times; you’re just waiting for the brightness to kick up a notch when you’re
outdoors. The latter seems more like a firmware issue however.
Features
Speaking of which, there’s definitely some
major bugs in the current firmware as we experienced very inconveniencing,
sporadic slow-downs. This was a brand new retail unit that we unboxed so it’s
not like it had been through a lot of wear and tear. When it works, it’s very
smooth without any hitches. Every now and then though, the phone will just lock
up and no amount of hitting the home or power key would make things right. It
seems like a RAM management issue which is causing this. We hope Samsung fixes
this in their future firmware update.
The display is a lot better than the Grand Duos
thanks to the bumped up resolution. It’s a shame we have to deal with just a
TFT panel but we’ve seen worse. Colours are fairly punchy and text and icons
aren’t pixelated. Screen sensitivity is also good and we didn’t have any issues
here.
The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm
Snapdragon 400 SoC and there’s 1.5GB of RAM accompanying it. In benchmarks, the
SoC is a lot faster compared to the dual-core Broadcom chip in the Grand Duos.
Both, AnTuTu and Quadrant posted some good numbers compared to its predecessor.
Android 4.3 gets a smattering of TouchWiz apps.
The new Multi-window is also present and its nice to see support for more third
party apps as well. There’s also S Voice, Group Play, Story Album, S Translator
and a Voice Recorder.
Media
The music and video player are quite competent
so you won’t need to look elsewhere for a better experience. The music player
supports lyrics and you also get cool enhancements like Tube amp effect, Adapt
sound, EQ presets and more. The video player supports most formats, including
MKV.
There’s 8GB of onboard storage and you can
further expand this by up to 64GB.
Connectivity
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is a 3G and
quad-band GSM phone. Other features from the Duos also make a comeback like
dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0 and GLONASS. NFC is still missing
and we’d really like to see an IR blaster as well, which I don’t think is
asking for much. The new display definitely makes web browsing a more pleasant
experience and web sites can be read more easily without having to zoom in too
much. Call quality was also good although the speakerphone volume was rather
weak.
Camera
It seems like the Grand 2 inherits the same 8MP
snapper of the Grand Duos. This isn’t a bad thing considering the Grand did
have a very good camera. The Grand 2 really excels when it comes to macro shots
and we were surprised at the level of detail we were able to capture. That
insect you see in the first image is no bigger than a small pea. We wished we
had some sort of image stabilisation though, as it’s not easy capturing macros
if your hands aren’t steady.
The UI is similar to the one found on the S4
and Note 3. You even get most of the same features. Dual shot was missing
though.
Battery Life
The 2600mAh battery easily sailed through our
8-hour loop test with about 30 per cent to spare. With regular use, we easily
managed to get by two days before having to charge it.
Verdict and Price in India
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is officially
available for Rs 24,890 but you can find it for it little lesser online and in
most stores. Samsung is charging a Rs 4,000 premium over Grand Duos’s launch
price and we feel this is too much for what’s on offer. If this was mid-2013
and the Grand 2 launched for this price, it would have been acceptable. But a
year later, the Grand Duos has almost reached its EOL (End of Life) period,
which is typically when we expect a refresh of sorts with mildly bumped up
specifications for the same price. And the Grand 2 ticks all those boxes
perfectly, except for the pricing. Samsung has also missed out on little
details like putting a notification light or NFC even.
It’s an ever tougher sell when you consider the
Lenovo Vibe X, which is superior in almost every respect, retailing for the
same price. To sum up, the Grand 2 is a worthy upgrade to the Grand Duos but
poor pricing, tough competition and lack of some crucial features might hurt
its sales. At its current market price, you’re better off with the Lenovo Vibe
X.
